Here is how a custom woven display moves from an initial concept to a finished retail installation.


1. Start With the Creative Concept

Many projects begin with a rendering, concept sketch, or campaign visual.

The idea may be an oversized woven horse, giraffe, flower, tree, abstract sculpture, or seasonal retail installation.

The rendering communicates the visual direction, but it does not answer all the manufacturing questions.

Before engineering begins, we need to understand:

  • Overall dimensions

  • Product proportions

  • Base fixing

2. Develop the Engineering Drawings

3. Engineer the Internal Metal Frame

Large woven displays usually require a concealed metal structure.

5. Select the Right Woven Material

Options may include natural rattan, synthetic rattan, paper rope, natural fibers, and mixed-material systems.

Natural rattan provides an authentic handcrafted appearance.

Synthetic rattan provides more consistent color and dimensions and can be produced in custom colors.

Paper rope and natural fibers work particularly well for lightweight artistic and seasonal installations.

Many projects combine woven materials with metal, wood, acrylic, or other decorative components.

The correct material is selected according to appearance, durability, budget, installation environment, and expected lifespan.


6. Approve Material and Weaving Samples

Before full production, material samples can be prepared to confirm:

  • Color

  • Material thickness

  • Weaving density

  • Weaving direction

  • Surface texture

  • Connection method

Different weaving patterns can create completely different visual effects.

Sample approval allows important decisions to be made before the entire large-scale structure is completed.


7. Hand Weaving and Shape Development

Once the structure and materials are approved, weaving begins.

This stage requires experienced craftsmanship.

Complex three-dimensional surfaces require continuous adjustment of material tension, spacing, density, direction, corners, and finishing points.

The weaving method may change between the body, neck, legs, petals, or other sculptural elements.

8. Project Management Throughout Production

Custom fabrication requires more than manufacturing capability.

Clients also need visibility into project progress.

A typical project follows clear approval checkpoints:

9. Progress Photos and Videos

International clients may not be able to inspect production in person.

Depending on project requirements, progress updates may include:

  • Full assembly videos

  • Final multi-angle images

Providing visibility at key stages allows potential issues to be identified earlier.

10. Final Quality Inspection

11. Factory Trial Assembly

12. Design Packaging Around the Product

  • Plywood crates

  • Maximum module dimensions

  • Lifting conditions

  • Installation schedule

  • Required tools

For multi-store projects, installation drawings, numbered components, packing lists, and installation videos can also be prepared.
